Prayer: HEAR THE WHOLE MESSAGE How often do you listen to just part of a message and then form your conclusions too soon. Important information may be missed or overlooked. It is easy to think that since you have accepted the gift of salvation, and Jesus paid the price for your sins, there is nothing else for you to do. Jesus is your Savior. Salvation is free: you believe in your heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead, and confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus. (Romans 10:9) But do not overlook the next step: let Jesus be your Lord. Now that you are part of God’s family, there are new attitudes and actions to attain. There is a lifetime of commitment and involvement that will keep you always looking to Jesus as Lord. Lordship is the act of giving everything over to His will on a daily basis. You must choose to let the Holy Spirit lead and have control. It is not done for you. It is your step of faith and obedience that is required. Now you are loyal to your new Leader, Jesus. Your action is to intentionally put off the old lifestyle, the old sinful, self-centered way you lived before you were saved. The Holy Spirit is there to give you the strength you need. Yes, you have the assurance that you are saved, and are free from the bondage of Satan. Still, you are responsible for turning away from lawlessness and let Jesus be Lord. You have a great Coach to encourage you, but the action must come from you. Do not present yourselves as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God… Romans 6:13 When you are humble before God, He will be your Guide. The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way. Psalm 25:9 With the Holy Spirit as your Helper, you can flee immorality, you can put off anger and filthy language and lies. You can resist the devil. At the same time you are encouraged by Jesus to put on tenderness, kindness, forgiveness. You leave one lifestyle behind, but quickly fill your heart with the goodness and fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22) That only comes from an intimate relationship with your Father. Your time reading the Bible and in prayer will keep your mind in tune with Jesus, your Lord. Your trust and commitment grow as you learn His path, His plan, His choice, and His joy for you. Make Jesus your Lord as well as your Savior. Joyfully, Joyce
