Prayer: BE THANKFUL It is always easier to be thankful when we are enjoying prosperity, have happy relationships and are content. However, it becomes a bigger challenge when there are circumstances that want to destroy our peace, joy and righteousness. Daniel was a young Jewish man, a prisoner in a foreign country, separated from family and all that was familiar. This was his prayer: I thank You and Praise You O God of my fathers… Daniel 2:23 Daniel was not troubled and terrified by his circumstances, but was confident in His God Who promised to be with him always. His thanks indicated that he trusted God to be with him through all of the trials of his time as a prisoner. Jesus, also, looked to heaven and prayed, I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth… Matthew 11:25 Jesus, too, expressed his complete dependence upon God for every situation He faced on earth. Being thankful means more than just being happy about the situations and environment where you find yourself. Being thankful means you are putting your complete trust in God to help you and guide you through life. It is acknowledging that God already knows where you are and your present challenges. It is a heart decision and submission to say that God is able to see you through this portion of your life and guide your steps. Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:20 In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Even when it is difficult, you can lay at Jesus’ feet a ‘sacrifice of thanksgiving,’ Psalm 107:22, because you know God sees far beyond your understanding and will show you His love in, and through, and beyond what you are facing today. When you have a heart of thanksgiving, God knows you are trusting Him fully for all of your needs. Your burden is lifted and your heart is free to praise God. Joyfully, Joyce
