Prayer: THE WORD OF GOD What you feel and think about the word of God tells a lot about how you will direct your life. If you want to know how David felt about the word of God, all you need to do is read Psalm 119. In every verse in this chapter of 175 verses, he speaks about the word of God. David asks God: teach me, make me understand, make me walk, direct my steps, redeem me, deliver me all regarding the wonderful word of God. David writes of: the law, the statutes, the word, the testimonies, the commandments, the judgments all referring to the word of God. How blessed you are to have the whole Bible to learn the word of God. Every word is God-inspired and God-directed. Every word is true. Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:21 David determined that he would make the word of God his highest priority. To him, the word of God was more than just a law to follow. It captured his heart and his emotions as well. He wrote: I long, I trust, I seek, I love, I sought, I believe, I learn, I rejoice. David gave himself completely to be directed by the word of God. He asked God to: direct me, make me understand, make me walk, direct my steps, redeem me, deliver me, revive me, teach me. David held himself open to receive all that God had for him through the word. He humbled himself before God. Not only did David ask God to give him all that he could receive, he also focused on what he could do for himself to learn from the word. He said: I will meditate, I will contemplate, I will delight, I will cling, I will walk, I will speak, I will consider, I will keep, I will not forget. Read Psalm 119 several times. You can aspire to be like David in honoring the word of God. Make it your guide, your high priority, your deepest desire to learn and respect. You can be blessed and led by God as you find the path for your life by following the word of God. All you need to know is found in the word of God, the Bible. Determine to make it your standard of truth by which you compare all other teaching. Become passionate like David. You will never be disappointed. Joyfully, Joyce
