Prayer: QUEST FOR KNOWLEDGE What is your purpose in wanting to know more about God? Is it to be filled with knowledge? Do you want to be well-informed? Are you looking to be educated so you can speak with understanding about Him. The Bible says, Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. 1 Corinthians 3:1 The intention of Paul in writing to Christians was to encourage them to action with their knowledge. He prayed for them that they would be filled, increase, and put on knowledge, but it was for a specific purpose. With that knowledge and wisdom and spiritual understanding, they would be able to: Walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Colossians 1:10 Paul prayed for the Ephesians that God would give them a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith… that you may know the love of Christ which passes knowledge. Ephesians 1:17, 18 When you know God deep inside, when you know the love of Christ and experience it personally, you can help others. With this inner knowledge and relationship with God, you are able to reach out to others and share: tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, bearing…forgiving…teaching, admonishing one another. Colossians 3:12, 16 Fruitfulness in serving God is the result of increasing in knowledge. Your knowledge which comes out of experience enables you to share the love of God in real and practical ways. Joyfully, Joyce
