Prayer: HOPE There are many things that you may hope for as you go through life. You may hope for a better home, a better education, a better job. You may hope for peace. But if what you hope for is not true, you may find there is only quicksand. What you hope for will identify your spiritual walk. The Bible talks about hope and how you are long for things to be better than they are now. Hope is called the anchor of the soul, both stedfast and sure. (Hebrews 6:19) That is a good visual for understanding hope. An anchor is firm, it is solid, it holds the boat steady in bad weather. That is the purpose of hope in your life as well. Hope is only as good as the object (anchor) that you trust. Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, For the help of His countenance. Psalm 42:5 I hope in Your word. Psalm 119:147 When you hope in God, you have a solid anchor for your life. The Bible gives you many things to help you build hope in your life. As a believer, you are blessed to have “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27) Plus, you have the promise of the “blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.” (Titus 2:13) That is when Jesus returns to gather His people to be with Him forever. When you hope in the right things, you have a focus, a protection, a look to the future that will set you on the right path. You have a “living hope” to direct you and guide you (1 Peter 1:3.) It is your “helmet, the hope of salvation.” 1 Thessalonians 5:8 The word of God is perfect, complete and true. Let your hope to be in the solid anchor of God and His promises in the Bible. Let that be the guide that gives you strength and peace. Your hope then will hold strong in any storm. Joyfully, Joyce
