Prayer: HEAVENLY MUSIC It seems like King David loved music from the time he was a shepherd boy and spent long hours alone on the hillsides tending sheep. He used his time to reflect on God and pray and sing. He had great skill on the harp. David wrote many of the Psalms – songs of praise and joy. Singing is a great way to express your love to God, rejoice in His care, and enter His presence. Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful. Praise the Lord with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings Sing to Him a new song. Psalm 33:1-3 In the Old Testament, instruments were a common accompaniment to praising God with song . There was the harp, the timbrel, the lute, the trumpet, and cymbals. All the instruments added to the joyful sound of singing praises to God. So many of the Psalms have been put to music today by those who follow David’s example – singing and making melody in their hearts to the Lord. It is an expression of love and joy – often with stringed instruments. The LORD lives! Blessed by my Rock! Let the God of my salvation be exalted. Psalm 18:47 I will bless the LORD at all times His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Psalm 34:1, 2 This is the day that the LORD has made We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 Use your voice and instruments to sing praises to the Lord. Allow the music of the Psalms honor and glorify God your Father. You can stand, you can lift your hands, you can clap and shout to the Lord. All of this is an expression of your love and gratitude to the King of Kings and the Everlasting God who loves you. Heaven will be filled with singing and praise! Joyfully, Joyce
