Prayer: OBEDIENCE How easy it is to try to find a way around obedience. You may have tried this as a small child. As a child grows into a teenager, it can become an art. When it is carried over into adulthood, it can be disastrous. Is there an easier way to respond, and still not actually obey? Some would try many other avenues, such as making sacrifices in other areas rather than directly addressing the issues that God says are important. In fact, to refuse to obey is related to rebellion and stubbornness. God prefers humble obedience to what the Holy Spirit is telling you, over the greatest and finest gift you could give. Further, there is a list that will help you know what God is asking. Cease to do evil Learn to do good Seek justice Rebuke the oppressor Defend the fatherless Plead for the widow Isaiah 1:16, 17 What God desires to see is a heart that is sensitive to others. It is reaching out to those in need rather than being selfish and hording. Loose the bonds of wickedness Undo the heavy burdens Let the oppressed go free Break every yoke Share your bread with the hungry Bring to your house the poor who are cast out When you see the naked, cover him Do not hide yourself from your own flesh Isaiah 58:6-7 God promises great blessing to you when you obey. He will be with you. He will bless you. He will answer your prayers. He will guide you continually. He will heal you speedily, and strengthen your bones. Your soul will be satisfied. Isaiah 58:8, 11 God asks for your very best. Your humbleness and obedience is precious in His sight. He wants you to show Him that you are willing to obey every thing that He brings to you. He will give blessings ‘pressed down, shaken together and running over’ Luke 6:38. Joyfully, Joyce
