Prayer: COMFORT How wonderful it is to receive comfort from friends and family when you are going through tough times. It may be an illness. Perhaps a loss of a friend or a loved one. In times of sadness, it is so special to have one to come alongside and give you comfort with an understanding hug and prayer. God is the great source of comfort when you turn to Him in your time of need. Psalms is full of praise to God for His comfort: Your comforts delight my soul. Psalm 94:19 Let, I pray, Your merciful kindness be for my comfort. Psalm 119:76 Your rod and Your staff they comfort me. Psalm 23:4 It is the “God of all comfort who comforts us in all our tribulation.” 2 Cor. 1:3 In turn, God asks you to comfort others in their times of trial and trouble. Only you, who have gone through trials and been comforted, are truly able to comfort a brother in his time of difficulty. Sing O heavens, be joyful O earth… for the Lord has comforted His . people. Isaiah 49:10 Therefore, comfort each other and edify one another. 1 Thes. 5:11 God has given the Holy Spirit to be your counselor, your teacher, your comforter. He is within you, giving you strength and spiritual encouragement. Jesus said He would not leave his disciples alone or as orphans, but the Holy Spirit would be their guide. You are a child of God, so the promise belongs to you. Accept the gift that Jesus promised. Welcome the Comforter into your life. Be filled with the Spirit. Receive the blessings that are yours. Then pass along the comfort to others. Joyfully, Joyce
