Prayer: WATCH OVER YOUR BROTHER You have a wonderful responsibility to help, encourage, edify, and look after your brothers and sisters in the Lord. It is for you to be the one who builds up and admonishes young Christians, to help them grow in the Lord. Just as you have had those along the way who have prayed over you, lifted you up when you were weak, helped you find fellowship and contact with other Christians, so you can do the same for new Christians. Let no one seek his own, but each one the otherís well being. I Corinthians 10:24 You are admonished to consider your brother before your free choices as a Christian. Think before you act. What might be a simple choice for you could be a stumbling block for a new believer. Be alert and aware that your actions will be a blessing and an encouragement for others who are growing in their walk with the Lord. For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Galatians 5:13 How easy it is to say, ĎIt wonít hurt anyone. It is fine to participate, everyone is doing it.í You may condone activities, rationalize why you are doing it, justify your actions, but if one new Christian is caused to fall away from faith because of your actions are you really acting in love? And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish for whom Christ died? But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. I Corinthians 8:11, 12 The point is, look out for others first, put their needs and concerns ahead of your pleasure. Be the one who loves to help others, rather than loving things selfishly. After he had killed his brother, Cain said to the Lord: ĎAm I my brotherís keeper?í but sadly it was too late. Your Friend, Joyce
