Prayer: THE POTTER AND THE CLAY It is easy to be dissatisfied with life. It could be you are not happy about where you were born. Perhaps you resent the parents who raised you. Maybe it is misfortunes from your past that upset you. You may not even like the way you look or your particular weight at this time. It is easy to play the ‘if only’ game. You may say, If only I had not been abandoned! If only I had a better job, car or home. If only I was smart, or good looking (or both!) If only I did not have to deal with a handicap. The list is endless. You can add your own ‘if only.’ However, the Bible tells a different story. It is God who formed you. It is God who placed you in this age and location. It is time for you to look to God to find the place and purpose that He has uniquely designed for you. Will the thing formed say to Him who formed it, “Why have You made me like this”? does not The potter have power over the clay… that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy…Romans 9:20, 23 You have the choice to acknowledge God Who formed you and Who made you the way you are. Your set of circumstances and situations are all part of the Father’s plan for your life. None of what you have experienced is an oversight or a mistake. Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, So are you in My hand. Jeremiah 18:6 But now O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand. Isaiah 64:8 You can stop beating up on yourself for mistakes, failures, disappointments and hurts. Your Father is creating a beautiful, precious, priceless masterpiece out of the clay of your life. He is the great designer. Through it, He will show all heaven and earth ‘the riches of His glory!’ Thank God, then, for who you are and where He has placed you. Trust Him to bring together all the broken pieces of your life and make it a special vessel that will show forth His glory. Joyfully, Joyce
