Prayer: THE VOICE OF GOD How many times do you long to hear the voice of a loved one? You may be many miles away, but the voice of the one you hold dear, brings joy, peace, refreshment. That voice brings to mind the relationship you have, the moments of tenderness and pleasure you share. You may wish that you could hear again the voice of a parent or grandparent who is no longer living, because it would bring you comfort. Jesus said, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27 The sheep will not just follow anyone. They must know and trust the one who leads them and loves them. It is the same for you. Jesus loves you. He calls you to follow Him. You can trust his message. You have a special relationship with Him. That relationship allows you to hear what He says. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice. John 18:37 In the Old Testament, the people of Israel were encouraged to follow God. As long as they followed God, they would receive the blessings that He promised. Choose life… that you may obey His voice. Deuteronomy 30:20 Your Father in heaven has special words to share with you. As you read the Bible, you will know that your Father is speaking to you. You will know the right way to go because your Father will tell you. The Bible is the love letter that God has written to you. It is possible that you will hear an audible voice, or you will simply know in your heart that God is speaking to you. You will know His voice by the Holy Spirit within you. It is the Holy Spirit that will teach you, guide you and comfort you. Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21 Listen for the words of comfort and encouragement that the One who loves you most gives to you. Joyfully, Joyce
