Prayer: WAIT ON THE LORD It may be a challenge for you to wait. Often there is impatience and frustration when you have to wait. It may be upsetting to wait: standing in line, on hold on the telephone, trying to get through traffic. All of these situations may cause anxiety and anger. Another type of waiting is filled with anticipation and excitement. Waiting for a special date to come, waiting for an expected package, waiting for a loved one to arrive. The Bible often tells you to wait: Psalm 27:14 Wait on the Lord Be of good courage And He shall strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord. Lamentations 3:26 Wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. Isaiah 40:31 Those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength When you wait on the Lord, you can expect that He will speak to you. You can anticipate the blessings that come from the Lord. You will be given strength for your heart, and renewed strength as you wait. Waiting on the Lord can bring you joy and peace, it will calm your spirit. When you are troubled about a decision, bring it to the Lord and wait for His answer. Read the Word. Listen for His message. Then do what He guides you to do. Be obedient to the Word. Psalm 62:5 My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. Perhaps it is God who is waiting for you! He is waiting for you to be silent, quiet before Him, listening for His word, expecting His answer. This is part of the intimate love relationship you can have with the Father and with Jesus Christ. What joy there is to know that the Father wants to communicate with you. How awesome to receive a word directly from Him and from the Scriptures. Wait. Listen. Act. Rejoice. Joyfully, Joyce
