Prayer: LOVING GOD What is the greatest commandment? You shall love the Lord your God With all your heart With all your soul With all your strength And with all your mind. Luke 10:27 That sounds wonderful, especially when you already know God loves you, that He is trustworthy, and that He wants your relationship to grow. This commandment doesnt sound like it is asking for a begrudging, half-hearted attempt at love. In fact, Hannah Whitall Smith calls it utter abandonment to God, which is quite a startling word picture. How is this love going to be measured? Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. he who loves me will be loved by my Father, And I too will love him And show myself to him. John 14:21 You have to have actions to follow your words! And what are the benefits? You will be loved by the Father, loved by the Son, and Jesus will show Himself to you. How is God defined? God is love. I John 4:16 So, when you abandon yourself to God, you experience His very nature and presence: LOVE! Gods love for you means His total acceptance of you. When you love God, you give Him your total acceptance as well. X Accept His direction as best for you X Accept His power to accomplish His will in you X Accept His commandments as perfect guidelines for you God is good! Joyfully, Joyce
